What is that spirit that we recognize and can build on? What is that spirit that we want to connect to...that spirit of rebellion? The spirit of resistance...the spirit of insurgency! It's that spirit we should be talking about. (Bill Ayers, 2007, on the occasion of the 40-year anniversary of the Weather Underground)


Perhaps Ayers' wife, Bernadine Dohrn, expressed that "spirit" best in a public warning at the zenith of the Weather Underground's influence:


Now we are everywhere and next week families and tribes will attack the enemy around the country. We're not just attacking targets; we're bringing the pitiful, helpless giant (the USA) to its knees. Guard your planes...guard your colleges...guard your banks...guard your children...guard your doors.


This election long ago ceased to be a partisan battle between Republicans and Democrats. It really isn't a contest over big and small government, higher or lower taxes, or even abortion and homosexual rights.

Somewhere along the way -- while most of us were enjoying our precious freedoms, taking kids to soccer, ordering pizza and listening to our iPods -- there was another group of people who were at work to destroy America. Even as they enjoyed with us its benefits, they schemed and planned and, moment by moment, inch by inch, gained a footing and we never realized the ground was shifting.

Be Strong till the end

Dear Father,
You have called Sarah to run a race many of us will never run, but at the same time, we all are to run your race. Lord, Sarah not only has a great cloud of witness like the one it says in Hebrews but she also has all of us to cheer her on. Lord, give her the strength to carry through until the end. Give her the courage and good health that this race requires. Provide for her peace and joy that only You can provide. Thank you Lord for the privilege we have to lift Sarah and others up in prayer. Lord, I know that you will provide for her and carry her through. We will wait on you Lord, for our hope is in You. Thank you for renewing our strength.

Dear Lord,
I thank you for a nation who has people who work hard for their dreams. I thank you for the freedoms we have to dream a dream and the ability to pursue them. We pray that our American nation will remain a nation in which we have the freedoms to pursue our dreams, where we are not punished for our success and blessings.
Lord, a hard working man asked an honest question and now he is mocked and his life is being torn apart. Give him this day a way to hold his head up and dream his dreams even when he is being scorned. Let him know that many of us understand how he feels. Thank you for Joe, Bless him on this day. Keep him strong.


Lord, Give Sarah and Senator McCain the words to encourage all of us who are like Joe. Thank you for a ticket who desires to help us and not take what we have earned. I pray that Sarah will have the strength to do all that is laid out for her today. Keep her healthy and strong in the next 3 weeks. Each day is one less day to speak the truth so Lord give her many opportunities to touch people's lives and encourage us to be the best Americans we can be. Let her touch and see the hurts and the blessings we all share, help her to understand and be compassionate. Give her the freedom to share her heart and her generous spirit. Thank you for her. Dear Lord,
Thank you for the beauty of this world. This time of the year the Northeast is a gorgeous place to be. Lord, I pray that Sarah and the family will enjoy the fall colors and the people in that area. Thank you for the learning opportunities they will share as a family as they go from state to state. Lord, let there be wonderful memories that they will share for a lifetime. Thank you for this unique moment in time for the Palin Family. Bless them today as they meet people let them know that the American people appreciate them. Thank you for the McCain's for having the for sight and wisdom to ask her to be the VP. Thank you for last night the debate was good and I am grateful for the strength and courage you provided for Senator McCain. Please continue to provide for their needs and provide wisdom to run a campaign. I pray that what is said and done will glorify you.

Let it be used for good and not for evil. Let me proclaim your goodness and greatness. Thank you that with my voice I can ask for forgiveness and praise you for your almighty powers. Lord, thank you for giving us Sarah who has encourages us to use our voices. Thank you for giving women like me, who love you and desire to live our lives pleasing to you, a voice to let others know that we are here in this world. We have beliefs that they do not like or understand, but we have a voice. Lord let our voices be heard. Let the call of freedom be proclaimed from every mountain and valley. Let it ring from your children far and wide. Lord let us speak and Lord let the world hear.

I have come to realize this election is not McCain vs Obama. It has come down to my way of thinking, living, believing vs theirs. I have come to understand it is not only McCain Palin that is fighting Obama it needs to be me. I need to stand up and declare what I desire for my nation, state, city, home, and my life. It is up to me not to give up, but to fight. So I am going to pronounce my support for McCain tonight after the debate. No matter how the debate goes. He has my support. I will be sending every TV local and national networks my voice. I will take a stand today.

We confess that we have forgotten God

On April 30, 1863, with a nation in the midst of the tragic Civil War, President Lincoln at the request of the Senate issued a proclamation calling this nation to prayer. Excerpts from that proclamation are as follows:

…it is the duty of nations as well as of men to own their dependence upon the overruling power of God; to confess their sins…and to recognize the sublime truth, announced in the Holy Scriptures and proven by all history that those nations only are blessed whose God is the Lord…

…We have been the recipients of the choicest bounties of Heaven. We have been preserved, these many, years, in peace and prosperity. We have grown in numbers, wealth, and power as no other nation has ever grown, but we have forgotten God.

…We have forgotten the gracious hand which preserved us in peace, and multiplied and enriched and strengthened us, and we have vainly imagined in the deceitfulness of our own hearts, that all these blessings were produced by some superior wisdom and virtue of our own. Intoxicated with unbroken success, we have become too self-sufficient to feel the necessity of redeeming and preserving grace, too proud to pray to the God who made us;

It behooves us then, to humble ourselves before the offended Power, to confess our national sins, and to pray for clemency and forgiveness.

Presidential prayers


Thank you for a nation who has always had a remnant that acknowledged You as God. Lord I know that in II Chronicles 7:14 You gave your people a promise.

"If my people, which are called by my name shall humble themselves and pray and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land."

Lord, open your eyes unto us and let your ears be attentive unto our prayer on this day.

Lord, I confess that our nation has over and over again have denied you in the past 40 years. Oh Lord, forgive us of our sins of selfishness, hate, and going our own way. But I like Abraham of old ask if there are 5 righteous in our land will you spare us? Lord, I know that over the years many have denied you. They have tried to wipe you out of our schools, thoughts, and hearts, but my Father, I also know that there has always been a remnant in this land, who have faithfully believed in you. Lord, because of who you are, I pray that you will forgive us this day and heal our land.
I pray through the blood of Jesus Christ who died for me.

Answers to Prayer

We prayed that Piper would be able to spend time with a parent this weekend. She and her sister Willow went to the opening Flyer's game with their Mom.


Our second answer to prayer is for Bristol and her relationship with Levi. Levi speaks to the press about all the rumors going around about his relationship with Bristol. God is a good God and He even hears our simple request. Lord, Thank you for hearing our prayers.

I continue to ask that the truth is spoken clearly. Lord, thank you for giving Sarah the courage to speak about Abortion and her desire to protect Life. Thank you for her convictions on this matter. Lord, Thank you for a candidate who desires to speak out.


Give her and John McCain the gumption to proclaim the Truth loud and clear. Be with them on the campaign trail in North Carolina. Lord, thank you for what will be said. I pray that the media does not distort their message.
I pray all these things for with a grateful heart. Thank you for answering our prayers.

God is our Hope

Dear Father,
Today is your Day Lord. It was good to be with believers this morning. I pray that Sarah and Todd and the kids get a chance to be with believers. I find it encouraging and uplifting. Thank you Lord, for your Church. Sorry we have messed it up so badly. I pray for the church that in the next few days, weeks, months, we will be able to show the world that there is hope. Our hope is not in our elected officials but in You. You are our rock and our fortress, You are my guiding light. Thank you, for your salvation and love. I pray for those who have no hope, for they have not you. Lord, help us to share with this world your hope and love.
Lord, I pray that just as you filled David when he was anointed king you will fill Sarah today. I know that she the only way she can do the job she has been called to do is with your filling. Holy Spirit flow through her. Use her this day as she walks and talks. Let your love and hope flow out through her so others can see and know you. I know that her hope for today is in you and not in our government. Lord, give her the right words to say. Let truth be spoken with boldness and clarity. Thank you again for giving us a person with principles and morals. Lord, let her speak from her heart and let the world hear You.
